Qualoss and SQO-OSS presentation to the Plone Conference Sprint
Naples Sprint 2007 will be held on October 13-15, 2007, the weekend immediately after Plone Conference 2007 plus monday.
The sprint will also be a good place to discuss non-technical aspects of Plone and open source software generally and to share our experiences as open source developers and users. We will discuss how we can enlarge and enrich the Plone community, and how we can make Plone both better and better known.
2 talks will present investigations being done on OS software and the impact these research may have on technology quality and adoption.
1. EU research on Open Source – Xavier Heymans (Zea Partners)
Zea and members are involved in 3 EU research projects: Qualoss, Flossmetrics and SQO-OSS. The research will focus on OS software quality and metrics on Open Source Communities. The presentation will include a discussion of the potential impact for the community and users, and suggestions on how to involve the OS community and transfer expertise.
2. EU research – project SQO-OSS – Paul Adams (Sirius Corporation)
SQO-OSS aims to assist European software developers in improving the quality of their code, and to remove one of the key barriers to entry for Open Source software by providing scientific proof of its quality.
Open Source is already leading to a revival in the European SME software development sector, and advanced tools for quality assessment will underpin further enterprise adoption and assist European SMEs and projects in competing with large global corporations.
